The section on the Northern Territory starts: .....
"Sometime during 1958 a small band of dog enthusiasts, led by by Mr Snow Toogood, decided that it was time to form a Canine Association. A meeting was convened on 21st July 1958 and this meeting agreed to form an association to be called the Northern Territory Canine Association. This was later changed to the North Australian Canine Association. A committee was formed to draw up a set of Rules and Constitution. This inaugural Committee consisted of Messrs Toogood, Rutland, Elwell, Drury and Sulley and Miss Robb. By the end of this meeting a Canine Association had been formed on the donations of the meeting, the princely sum of Four Pounds 19 shillings - ($9.90)."
This book is available to loan from the NACA Library
The NACA history was researched and written by Mr Doug Ford and Mrs Gwen Ford. Mr and Mrs Ford now reside in Victoria where they continue to breed Beagles and Dobermanns, however they still have family links in the Territory.
