Junior Handler Competitions

Dancing with DogsJunior Handlers compete with either their own pedigree dog or one borrowed from another exhibitor – with the emphasis on dog show handling skills.

The aim of Junior Handlers competition is to encourage children to participate in Dog Shows and other Canine activities, where learning objectives can provide greater opportunity for further development of their interest in breeding, showing, stewarding and eventually judging, while having fun.

Since the inception of the Pedigree Junior Showmanship competition, training days and handler classes have produced many outstanding handlers Australia-wide. Those that have gone through the ranks are now the mentors to today's youngsters and what capable hands they are in!

The Dogs NT  Junior Handler Competitions are open to any junior who is, or their parent/guardian is, a member of DOGS NT.

The Dogs NT  State final is only open to winners who are residents and hold membership of Dogs NT.

The Finals will be held at the DogsNT double header Shows on 17 July 2010 at 7pm.  Regular judging will stop in both rings for the Final to take place.  The Judges for the Junior Handler Final will be Mel Hammett. Each of the Child Handlers will need to complete an Entry Form and need to be available to compete in Melbourne in September is they are awarded the overall winner or runner up.

Dogs NT runs their Junior Handlers competition under the rules set out by the ANKC. If you would like any further information please contact the Junior Handlers Co-ordinator or view the rules on the ANKC website.
